From Malcolm’s Desk – June 2012

In future we will post our Monthly Newsletters here. (We have also posted our previous Newsletters, so for those of you who missed out or who wish to double-check older information, it will now be at your fingertips).

We want to include a ‘history’ section in phase 2 of building the website which will include anecdotes of a bygone era. Does anyone have any information or photographs they would care to share? These would be most welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS:

…are due to Gregg Hurter, who recently bought “BMA”. He re-launched her as “BELLATRIX” last Saturday afternoon. We wish him much enjoyment of his new boat and a happy sailing season ahead.

ELECTRICITY:

We had a poor response to our previous announcement that we are looking into extending the electrics on the “A/B”-line and would welcome feedback from any interested parties. Further, if anyone knows of an Electrical Engineer who could help us with costing/ quotes, we would be grateful to have their contact details.

MSC WEEK:

Don’t forget the MSC WEEK – being hosted by Point Yacht Club from 30 June to 06 July.  This should bring in a lot of visiting yachts and spectators alike.

PORT TAXES:

We remind you that all non-Durban registered boats are liable for port duties. Other boats that are not sea-worthy or compliant (e.g. whose registration has lapsed) may also be liable.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP:

Calling all Lessees! Have you paid your annual Club Membership subs? Remember, it is a condition of your Lease with Durban Marina that you belong to one of the three Clubs: Durban Boat Owners’ Association or Point Yacht Club or Royal Natal Yacht Club.

If you have resigned from your original Club, please advise Gillian which of the other Clubs you have now joined and provide your new membership number. Thank you for your co-operation.

BOAT SHOW (22-24 JUNE):

We are really looking forward to this year’s International Boat Show. Don’t forget to mark this event on your calendars.

See you there!

Regards,  Malcolm
