From Malcolm’s Desk – July 2011

A warm welcome to our new Lessees: Sulaiman Gangat, Kim Labuschagne, Deepak Maharaj, Charles Touzel and Nazir Dawood. We wish them Happy Sailing and a long and fruitful association with the Marina.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Don’t forget the dates for MSC Regatta (the week of 4th – 8th of July), the Durban International Boat & Leisure Show (weekend of 15th – 17th July) and the City of Durban Vasco da Gama International Ocean Race towards the end of July 2011. {Please contact Race Chair Dave Claxton on (082) 455 1071 or Race Secretary Gill Campbell on (083) 461 6286 with any enquiries. DEBIT ORDERS:

The Debit Order System has been put in place and the first Debit Orders will be deducted on the 5th July 2011.

Please note that we will be adding users on to the system every month. Attached is the requisite form if you are interested.

ELECTRICITY CHARGES:

The good news is that the Marina is in the process of re-evaluating the current electricity problems on “A” and “B” line (which is continually troublesome). All boxes are going to be metered. Anybody with an Electrical Company that can advise and quote us for this process, please contact Malcolm as soon as possible.

Costs unfortunately have to increase due to the increases imposed by Eskom over the last year. (The R80 currently charged monthly on the non-metered plastic boxes does not cover maintenance or upkeep of the system, let alone the bill we receive from eThekweni).

USEFUL INFORMATION:

It is law that ALL boats on the Marina have to hold a current Seaworthy Certificate and be registered with the Port Authority. Kindly ensure that your boat is compliant.

DIVE SERVICES:

Please note that we need updated contact details for all our Lessees or Renters who have changed their telephone numbers, residential, postal or email addresses since signing our documentation. NOTICE OF OPEN FORUM MEETING:

All our Lessees are invited to attend a general feedback meeting with our Directors on Saturday 6th August 2011 at Royal Natal Yacht Club (Trafalgar Room) at 10h00.
