From Malcolm’s Desk – June 2011

A warm welcome to our new Lessees:  Greg Maddox, Mel Hickman, Rajesh Sewpershad, Kobette Marais and Wayne Ellis. We wish them Happy Sailing and a long and fruitful association with the Marina.

MSC week is taking place during the week of 4th – 8th of July. Those folk requiring moorings for the duration should call in at the office for an application form. The Boat-Show will be happening from Friday 15th – Sunday 17th July.

The Debit Order System has been slightly delayed but will be going live from 05 July 2011. Don’t forget to email Shireen: if you wish to make use of this more convenient system of payment.

We ask that all Tenders tie up at the bottom of “D” walk-on or the top of “M” walk-on, and not all over the Marina, as is becoming common practice. Please note further that, by law, every Dinghy must have the boat’s name on it. All unmarked Tenders will be removed from the water and will have to be claimed back from the Workshop within 60 (Sixty) days. Many thanks for your co-operation in this regard.

If you have barnacles growing on the bottom of your boat, haven’t changed your anodes in years and are worried about your prop getting a bit ragged; need your Chain mooring checked for peace of mind; have just lost your sunglasses, false teeth or wallet; or want to see the state of your boat via underwater video; contact Laurie on (073) 485 0317 or email him at

To all the folk that own electrical outlets, unfortunately there have been two increases from the supplier, being the Municipality. The Marina unfortunately cannot absorb the increases and these will be passed on to the users. This will come into effect as of the end of June.

We ask that all Lessees please advise Security (or the Office) if any stuff is being removed from their Boats (by Contractors). This will help us identify what is irregular activity. Any security issues (anything you notice out of the ordinary) please pass on to Malcolm. You are our eyes and ears.

Any expired flares can be dropped off at the Marina office and Malcolm will dispose of them.

We greatly appreciate Mr Roger Shaw’s recent very kind donation of two very nice trolleys for the Marina’s use.
