From Malcolm’s Desk

BOAT SHOW, MSC WEEK AND LIPTON:
It’s that time of the year again!
The Marina apologises to all those who have been hampered or inconvenienced in any way by the Annual Durban International Boat Show (which we are sure you will agree is a very good event for Durban) and the commencement of MSC Week (another great event for our Marina) running back to back this season with the Lipton Cup.

To all those who have had to move their boats, the Marina appreciates your patience.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO OFFERED THE USE OF THEIR MOORINGS.
YOUR HELP HAS BEEN HUGELY APPRECIATED.

SEA-WORTHINESS, PORT DISCS AND INSURANCE:
A friendly reminder: ALL boats on the Marina need to be sea-worthy, licensed and insured. Please would you ensure that your vessel is in the condition it is supposed to be in, with up to date Local Port Authority documentation as well as the appropriate insurance (and let the Marina office have proof for your lease/ rental files) We thank you for your co-operation. Paperwork is tedious at times, but necessary.

Port is clamping down and backdating annual licensing fees to 2010. A rough calculation on some boats show these could be liable for Port fees in excess of R50,000! It’s simply not worth letting this slide.

TO ALL THOSE ON CHAIN MOORINGS…
When last did you check your ground tackle? Don’t forget the maintenance is your responsibility.

Happy Sailing /Fishing!
Regards, Malcolm
